Dr. Lamar Barden, Owner of Peachtree Tax Advisors
Dr. Barden has been in the financial and tax industry for more than 25 years. He has a passion for helping people build long-term wealth and financial peace of mind. A former Minister, Dr. Barden has keen expertise in the financial and tax management of Church organizations and Ministers. While launching Peachtree Tax Advisors many years ago, he single handedly authored a tax manual tailored to Church clergy. Ministers learned of his unique and innovative tax system and the business quickly grew from there. Today, his clientele spreads across the U.S. and internationally.
His hobbies include Biblical archaeology, travel and reading. He has been married to his wife Carolyn for over 47 years and they have two children and 4 grandchildren. The financial industry has proven to be a family affair. Dr. Barden’s daughter, Ande Frazier, is currently President and CMO of LEAP Systems. His son, Norman Barden, serves as the Executive Director of Finance and Operations for 21st Century Financial, Inc. in the Rome, GA office.
Carolyn Barden, Office Manager
Carolyn has served as Office Manager and Executive Assistant to Dr. Barden since the beginning of his career. No one is more knowledgeable of Dr. Barden’s clients and their needs than Carolyn. She handles the scheduling of all client appointments and ensures their concerns/needs are brought to Dr. Barden’s attention. Carolyn also works extensively in client relations and is always striving to network and build clientele. Carolyn attended Shorter University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.
Carolyn and Dr. Barden have been married for over 47 years and have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. She has enjoyed building the family business with him for more than 25 years now. She enjoys traveling with him all over the US to see clients, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their hometown Church.

Marissa is the daughter-in-law of Lamar and Carolyn and has been involved in the family business since 2012. She began working in the Tax Department under the direction of Nathan Eberhart and is now the Tax Administrator. She oversees the day to day operations of Peachtree Tax Advisors.
Prior to Peachtree Tax Advisors, Marissa was the Adoptions/Foster Care Supervisor with the Department of Family & Children Services. She holds a BA in Psychology. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and writing/producing Christian Contemporary music.
Nathan Eberhart, RTRP, BBA, Tax Advisor
Nathan attended Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, and graduated from Georgia State University in Atlanta with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration majoring in accounting. Early in his career he was a programmer/analyst with an emphasis on developing financial software.
Nathan began his career with Peachtree Tax Advisors in 2004. Nathan has over 40 years experience in church financial services as financial secretary, business administrator, accountant, and church treasurer.
Sharon Mauldin, CPA, Tax Advisor
Sharon attended Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and Accounting. Upon graduation she earned her Certification in Public Accounting license (CPA).
Sharon worked for James W Noble, CPA, 1985-1987. She became a partner in Noble Mauldin, CPAs, 1987-1993 and owner of Sharon D Mauldin, CPA, 1993-present.
Sharon has specialized in individual and corporate tax preparation and business management. She has over 31 years’ experience in tax preparation for individuals, partnerships and corporations. She began working with Peachtree Tax Advisors in 2015 as a Tax Advisor.
Johnny Flanders, RTRP, BA, Tax Advisor
A graduate of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas, and Control Data Institute in Atlanta, Georgia, Johnny’s experience includes 30 years of working in IT with Southern Company, American Software, Federated Systems, and ACS.
During his tenure at Southern Company, he was instrumental in assisting with design, program, implement and maintain the Financial Modeling System and the Standard Plant Accounting System. While employed at Federated Systems, he served as a payroll analyst working with gross and net pay, W2 forms, tax withholding, FICA, and 401k data.
Johnny also has extensive investment and tax experience. As a Registered Investment Advisor he sold mutual funds, stocks, and other types of equity investments. He was entrusted with confidential social security, financial, and medical data.
He has worked as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service and for H & R Block as a tax preparer. For the last four years, Johnny has been a team tax advisor with Peachtree Tax Advisors, LLC.
Johnny’s training and credentials include: Federal – Series 6 Investment Co.; Variable Annuity Exam; Federal – Series 7 General Securities registered representative; Federal – Series 63 Uniform Securities Law Exam; Federal – Series 65 Investment Advisor Exam;
Federal – Registered Tax Return Preparer; Georgia – Variable Annuity Exam; Georgia – Variable Life Insurance Exam and Georgia – Life and Health Insurance Exam.
Carey Cole, RTRP, BS, MBA, Tax Advisor
Carey received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Missouri. While attending graduate school, he taught junior level finance.
His work experience with the DuPont Company for 31 years gave Carey opportunities to work in management, critical areas of finance, analysis, manufacturing, marketing, philanthropy and quality control. He was also privileged to participate in developing many innovative programs and represented DuPont in speaking at numerous organizations including the United Nations.
Prior to DuPont, he served three years on active duty with the U. S. Army concurrent with DuPont, serving 27 years in leadership positions in the U. S. Army Reserve retiring in the rank of Colonel as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel for a Major General in charge of 10,000 soldiers. Additionally, Carey served in leadership positions in various organizations which included the Boy Scouts.
Carey is a Registered Tax Return Preparer and has affiliated with Peachtree Tax Advisors for 10 years working with business professionals and numerous churches.
Tom W. Sills, RTRP, ACIP, Tax Advisor
Tom has prepared tax returns for hundreds of clients with H&R Block prior to coming to Peachtree Tax Advisors. He brings extensive training specializing in individual, sole proprietorship and partnership tax returns.
Tom’s education and career experience enables him to understand the variety of situations that tax clients face each year.
He is a graduate of West Georgia and the University of Tennessee. His work experience includes 30 years of working for a variety of local governments and regional agencies, private consultants, and nonprofit groups. This experience gives Tom valuable insights into the preparation of tax returns for clients with a variety of circumstances.
He enjoys providing top quality customer service and applying his professional expertise to prepare accurate returns that minimize the client’s tax liability.
Tom is a Registered Tax Return Preparer that has recently affiliated with Peachtree Tax Advisors and looks forward to meeting the tax needs of clients as they continue to serve their business and their communities.
